Requirements:

Interview requests and fees MUST be submitted together. No exceptions. Any requests and fees received after the deadline will be pushed to the next oral interview date.

Reciprocity Candidates Should Note the Following: Candidates applying for certification under one of SCAADAC's reciprocity provisions will need to submit a complete application package at least one month prior to the Oral Interview Request Letter and Fee Deadlines listed above. This is necessary to allow adequate processing time of reciprocity applications and to verify candidate's eligibility for the oral interview.

Content of Oral Interview/Tips for Candidates…

Oral Interview Candidates should note the following...

•    When presenting their case study, oral interview candidates may not read their presentation; however, reference cards may be utilized for reference only.

•    If a candidate is returning for a re-take of the oral interview, the candidate will be required to present their entire case study at each subsequent interview.

•    Case studies or case study revisions must be received by the SCAADAC Office prior to the oral interview.

•    Case studies must be fully HIPPAA Compliant, i.e. no names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, SSNs or Medicare/Medicaid numbers.

NEW Written Exam Registration Policy

Effective May 15, 2010, SCAADAC's Certification Commission has approved changing the written exam registration policy for in-process counselors. Now, any in-process counselor with an active (i.e. current) certification application, may register at any point during their in-process period. Counselors no longer have to wait until they have completed their application file to register and take the written exam.

• NOTE: No Late Registrations—Any test registration form received after the published Test Registration and Fee Deadline for a given exam period, will be held for submission to the testing service until the next testing period.

• NOTE: Applications will not be processed unless accompanied by payment.

• NEW: Pay Exam Registration Fees Online by credit card at www.scaadac.org, click on “Pay Fees Online.”

Written Exam Fees: NAADAC Members--$150, Non-Members--$250 (per exam date, no refunds or transfers and no re-scheduling once submitted to the testing service)

Return Registration Forms and Fees to SCAADAC Certification Commission, 1215 Anthony Ave, Columbia, SC 29201 (Online fee payments: Fax form to 803-254-3773. Candidates must sign both signature lines and complete State Authorization/Release section to release scores to SCAADAC.)

The testing agency will contact you directly with information on the testing location and time. Allow three and one-half weeks from the registration deadline to receive the testing service confirmation via US Mail. The examination will assess your addictions counseling knowledge. We strongly encourage you to study.

Test Locations/ADA Special Needs:

Testing agency will contact each candidate and will allow him or her to choose a date within the testing period indicated above. Test will be taken on computer at a local testing location. Individuals needing Americans With Disabilities Act accommodations should communicate these needs in writing to SCAADAC when submitting test registration form and should confirm these needs with testing agency staff when choosing test date/time.
